In 1999 we pushed our first Riva, a type Junior starter model, into our workshop, back then still located in Hamburg-Bahrenfeld. The restoration, completed in 2002, became our calling card within the sophisticated community. Since then we have overhauled more than a dozen Rivas. Meanwhile we receive projects that were botched elsewhere for corrective maintenance.
Sometimes it is our job to pretty up a boat for the next few years by using selective measures with regard to varnish, folding top or cushions.
Oftentimes we will take a boat apart to a large extent. Metal fittings and engines are passed on to specialists whose absolute commitment to a restoration true to original is just as convincing to us as their technically impeccable work and last not least their on-time delivery.
A Riva involves many different trades: from wooden boat building to high-end varnishing techniques, precision mechanics, surface-coating of various metals as well as electricity and engine technology of the nineteen sixties.
We change planks, replace the bottom, look at the stiffener framework of hull and deck, consisting of frames and stringers. We specifically repair soft woods. We keep and save the original condition as found, wherever it is possible and reasonable. All this is being done after consultation with you as the client. Because the restoration of a boat is always determined by a cost to time ratio.
By virtue of our high ambition with regard to workmanship, we rebuild the boats in the spirit and the style of the Riva boat-builders from Lake Iseo true to original, down to every detail. A restoration such as this may take up to two years, depending on the extent of the work.
